lately

How is it that I find myself in Autumn already?  Life has been so busy lately that each day, week, month just seems to have blended into the next.  I almost feel like I wasn’t even a part of January, or February either for that matter.  Talk about Ground Hog day!

Even though we are still experiencing hot days here in the West I find myself yearning to pick up the needles and hook.  In fact, over the weekend I frogged the cardigan I started for myself last winter.  Some would be shocked that I unravelled it with only the lower hem to go but I just wasn’t feeling it any more.  The efforts of my unravelling are sitting here waiting patiently for me to decide on a new project…a shawl perhaps or some knee high socks?

With the approach of the cooler months I’ve been thinking more and more about comfort food.  As much as I adore the salads we live on over the summer months I am much more a hearty meal kind of girl.  In anticipation of all the winter cooking I plan on doing I’ve made a few purchases in the book department, now to find the time to actually sit down and read them…does any body else read a cookbook from cover to cover?

All my creating of late has centred around sewing frocks.  Since my December launch I’ve sent off over a dozen frocks into the world and made a dozen more…it’s been exhilarating and frightening all at the same time, not to mention busy.  Plans are underway for a few different style frocks and a giveaway of my original Suzie dress.  I also hope to find the time to add a few handmade pieces to mine and the kids wardrobes.

What's been happening in your world lately?

To all those who visit here and leave heart warming comments…THANK YOU.  I really do appreciate you stopping by my space and I hope to find the time to visit you soon.

Congratulations Tammi! Your dresses are gorgeous, I'm not the least bit surprised at how popular they've been. It's a hot week here, but I'm starting to think of hearty dishes and wooly projects too..x

I notice you have the "Gourmet Farmer" book there, what do you think of it?

I've started cooking comfort food here, even though it really is'nt cold enough yet. I love your dresses, I still have them on my wish list. I have a couple of favourite cook books that I curl up on the couch with, cuppa in hand. xo

Oh how exciting you've sold so many! I'm waiting for an XS small one and I'll most definitely be entering the giveaway! Yes I read recipe books, and sadly so often I never use them. I'm in denial about autumn especially as its so hot here. But I'll be glad when the autumn leaves make their appearance :) I love to read you blog xx

Everlasting Meal is my recent favourite food book. Winter on the Farm is one of my favourite cookbooks. Whole Larder Love and the Bread Book are on my wishlist. Except I have so many cookbooks I struggled to justify more. Congrats on the shop success. I'm struggling with knitting (or sewing) anything for anyone other than the business, so I understand the desire to find time for that...and not succeeding ;)

WOW Tammi, that is fabulous with the frock production, well done! Dear Molly will go from strength to strength, I have no doubt. And I totally get what you mean about feeling a bit left behind this year, I cannot believe we are in March! How did that happen!?
Happy knitting/cooking/sewing/just being, Tammi xo

Dear Molly is going so well for you! Such a risk, but all worthwhile. I love reading a cookbook from cover to cover - complete with cute post-it notes for ones I really must try! I have seen a few of these and would love to get A Whole Larder Love. Looks amazing! I hope you get time to read them soon so you can enjoy all that comfort food cooking! xx

I read the Bread cookbook cover to cover. I'm in my 60s and have been making bread since I was 10. I learnt heaps. I have the River Cottage Vegetable book too. It's also good.

I love autumn, my favourite season.

I'm reading an Everlasting Meal at the moment. It's becoming a favourite and Tamar's sensible voice often pops in to my head while I'm preparing dinner. The Bread Handbook, Whole Larder Love and Winter on the Farm are on my wishlist (only a few months to Mother's Day).
So happy that Dear Molly is going from strength to strength.
